San Francisco Shopping - The Cannery at Del Monte Square on 2810 Leavenworth Street is a beautiful complex built in 1907 as a fruit-canning plant. It was converted into a mall in the 1960’s. It offers about 30 shops, a ceramic studio and gallery, and several restaurants. Best of all, it also offers The Oakville Grocery, where shoppers can choose from a wide assortment of great gourmet foods.

The Westfield San Francisco Centre at 865 Market Street is a $140 million complex. It is a vertical mall featuring four-story spiral escalators and a nine-story atrium topped by a retractable skylight. This mall offers 65 specialty shops such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Footlocker, J. Crew, and many, many others. Also offered here are Bloomingdale’s and a Century movie theatre.

Ghirardelli Square at 900 North Point was a former chocolate factory, and is now a quaint shopping mall, as well as a popular area landmark. Dating from 1864, a replica clock tower crowns the complex. The Ghirardelli soda fountain is inside the tower, selling chocolate and is an old-fashioned ice-cream parlor. Dining is somewhat limited, but the dining options and the atmosphere make this a very enjoyable place to visit.
