Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil

This is a neoclassical building that many find spectacular to see, with its domed atrium. At one time, this building used to be the headquarters of the Brazil nation bank, but now it is used a one of the city’s exclusive cultural spaces here.
Forte de Copacabana

This is a massive fort that was built during World War I by Krupp, a German arms-maker. The Copacabana Fort is made of reinforced concrete and was used to protect a great cannon that could be fired out to sea. The Copacabana Fort has bee well preserved to show visitors just what it looked like when it was a working fort. Much of the instruments and other accommodations are shown in their historical context.
Island of Paquetá

The island of Paqueta will take to back to the days of the old fashioned Carioca day trips. Since 1808, this island has been a popular tourist destination. Weekends are usually the busiest, with families traveling to hang out on the island. You can rent bicycles to travel around since no cars are allowed. Take a dip in the ocean, have a lunch at one of the restaurants, and visit the historical sights.
Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar)

Sugarloaf is one of the original attractions in Rio. You can stand on the peak and see all of the best Rio beaches and you will have a spectacular view of Christ the Redeemer. There is a cable car that runs every half hour during the day and evening. You can also hike up the trail instead of taking a cable car.
Botanical Gardens

The Botanical Gardens have been around since 1808 and were created by the Prince Regent of Portugal. There are 2,600 species of plant life and plenty of natural wildlife, including toucans and butterflies.

This area of Rio used to be a haven for pirated and slave traders, but is now one of the great haunts of the rich and famous that come to Rio to work and play. There is also a statue of Brigitte Bardot on the peninsula.
Corcovado

The famous statue of Christ the Redeemer with his arms spread to welcome the world is the more famous landmark in Rio and located on Corcovado Mountain. Train rides and cable cars transport people closer to the statue and the spectacular view of the city.
