Orlando Transportation

Orlando Florida Transportation - Since the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971, Orlando has grown into one of the world’s top vacation destinations. However beyond Walt Disney World, this Central Florida vacation spot offers a natural mecca of lakes, springs, rivers – parks and gardens, and a multitude of beautiful walking and hiking trails. Orlando offers a variety of museums, galleries and theaters as well…and of course, Orlando also provides visitors many options for shopping experiences.

There are two major airports that service Orland – the Orlando International Airport (www.state.fl.us/goaa) and the Orlando Sanford International Airport (www.orlandosanfordairport.com). Both airports offer a variety of transportation to Orlando. The Mears Transportation Group (www.mearstransportation.com) provides vans to shuttle visitors to Disney resorts and other hotels. Quicksilver Tours and Transportation offers personalized service where they will make a 30 minute grocery stop, provide you a free phone call, and will stop only at your resort. The service is pricey – but extremely convenient. Tiffany Towncar offers similar service as well. Driving is very easy, and routes are very well noted along the way.

Buses are available throughout Orlando from the Lynx bus system (www.golynx.com) will take you to Disney, Universal, and I-Drive at very inexpensive rates. Children 6 and under ride free. Express and day passes are also available.

Mears Transportation (www.mearstransportation.com) provides bus service to all major tourist attractions in Orlando and Tampa. Rates very depending on destination and a number of hotels use Mears for shuttle service to parks and attractions.

Taxis are typically available in front of major hotels. Rates are metered; however you might be able to get a flat rate if you ask. Cabs are not very economical in Orlando unless you are traveling with a group – in fact renting a car would be much more cost effective.
