Nashville Tennessee Transportation - Nashville, the capital of Tennessee, is known as Music City USA. It is the Mecca of country music – home of the hottest country stars, and those who’ve created the history of the musical genre. Additionally, Nashville is a sophisticated and eclectic tourist destination. Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the airport of choice for Nashville. The airport offers a variety of options for ground transportation. These include an Anytime-Transport Shuttle that travels to suburban areas of Nashville and other areas. The Gray Line Airport Express offers transportation to downtown and west end hotels of Nashville. In Shuttle Transportation offers mini-buses and mini-coaches to transport small groups to anywhere in Nashville. Both the ShuttleMax (www.shuttlemax.net) and SuperShuttle (www.supershuttle.com) provide transportation to Nashville. And finally the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) has a bus route that connects the airport to downtown Nashville nine times a day, and four times a day on weekends.

For the most part, getting around Nashville will be by bus. The MTA bus system covers all areas within Nashville and is the most efficient and inexpensive method to travel around Nashville. MTA bus stops are marked with blue and white signs, with express buses marked with an X following the route number. Fares are inexpensive, and a RUSH card is available that allows you to ride on any MTA bus for only 25 cents. Also, weekly passes are available for unlimited local rides. Seniors and those with disabilities qualify for discounted fare.
A free Trolley loops through the heart of downtown Nashville on weekdays from 11am to 1:30pm. Look for the LunchLINE shuttles. The downtown route passes by a number of points of interest.
Taxi service is available by call and rates are very reasonable. Music City taxi (615-262-0451), Checker Cab (615-256-7000), and Allied Taxi (615-244-7433) are the three major taxi service providers in the area.
Walking is not recommended throughout the larger Nashville area, but the downtown area is ideal for walking. Downtown, there are a number of attractions, shopping, dining and clubs that are all easily within walking distance of each other.
