Las Vegas Transportation Nevada - Las Vegas is a world renowned pleasure capital of the world. It is a unique, fast paced, energetic city of big lights, big money, and some of the most interesting entertainment to be found on earth. There is so much activity that visitors can get sensory overload, but that also means that it is virtually impossible for visitors to ever come anywhere near anything resembling boredom when they visit this amazing city.
The Las Vegas central airport is McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. There are a large variety of transportation options from McCarran. Several private companies offer limo and sedan service including Ambassador/Ritz (www.shuttlelasvegas.com), Bell Trans (www.bell-trans.com), C.L.S. and Executive Las Vegas. Bus service is offered from Grayline/Coach U.S.A. and Showtime at very reasonable rates to most major hotels. Taxi service is available outside the east side of baggage claim. The least expensive transportation are the Citizens Area Transit (CAT) buses (www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/cat) that offer transportation from the airport to various locations including different transfer stations and hotels throughout the city.

Las Vegas Nevada is huge and vast, so it is recommended that visitors rent a car when visiting Vegas. Because Las Vegas is so spread out, often public transportation can’t get you close enough to where you want to go. Vegas traffic isn’t quite as bad as most other cities, but it can be fairly difficult to get around town during rush hours, so keep this in mind. Parking at hotels usually includes free valet service.
Vegas now offers a new commuter monorail that serves the Strip. It is a 4-mile system with seven stations from the MGM to the Sahara. The monorail requires one-way fare, however discounts are provided for multiple trips.
Another way to get around without using a car is through the many private Las Vegas Nevada people-mover systems. These are available for airport to hotel and hotel to hotel service. This includes connections between The Mirage, Circus Circus Big Top, East Tower and other major hotels and tourist attractions.
Finally, the CAT system runs fairly reliable 24 hour service throughout the Strip. These bus routes run from South Strip Transfer Terminal to Downtown Transportation Center. Rates are very affordable, discounted for seniors and children, and children under 6 ride free. There is also an all-day pass available at a steep discount. (www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/cat). The CAT system also offers The Deuce, a fleet of double-decker buses that travel the Strip and planned routes to the Airport and downtown as well.
There is also a Las Vegas Strip Trolley system offering old-fashioned trolleys that are air-conditioned. These service most major hotels and are also reasonably priced.
