Dubai Transport - Dubai, once a modest port town, today stands as one of the world’s hottest tourist destinations. Dubai is a major center for travel, shopping, entertainment, business and art in the Middle East. It is sophisticated and offers international cuisine and breathtaking architecture.

Dubai International Airport is the central airport for Dubai. The airport offers shuttle service to Dubai from Terminals 1 and 2. Taxis are available at the Arrivals Terminal. Bus service is also available, and six Dubai bus lines connect with the airport. New Dubai Airport buses are offered that are air-conditioned and offer large baggage holds. These buses provide service to Dubai’s major popular corridors.

In Dubai, Taxis are the most common form of transportation. While it is currently under development, there exists no subway system in Dubai. Taxis are metered; however visitors should be sure to use the cream colored Taxis from the Dubai Transport Corporation. Taxi service can also be hired for a full 12 hour period for a fixed fee.

Visitors who hold an international driving license can rent a car from the many car rental companies in the city. Also, visitors without an international license can obtain a temporary driving license if they hold a license from a list of accepted countries.

Water taxis between Dubai and Deira are available – this is a unique opportunity to view the city from the water.
