Auckland Transport New Zealand - Auckland is known as the City of Sails, and is a cosmopolitan, subtropical paradise for travelers and tourists. Auckland, the gateway to New Zealand, is home to 48 dead volcanoes, and has the tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere. Auckland Airport is Auckland City's closest airport, just over the Mangere Bridge. Airbus is a "city to airport service" which departs central city and from the airport every 20 minutes during the day, and every 30 minutes in the evening. Tickets are purchased from the driver. Maxx transport are additional bus services that connect central city to the Airport. More information is available at www.maxx.co.nz. Shuttle buses, Inter-terminal bus service, and Taxis are all additionally available from the airport.
Auckland offers a number of convenient and easy to access transportation options.
Buses are available throughout the city and stop every 400 metres at posted signs. Bus route and timetable information is available at every stop. The bus system consists of five stations that are linked together and include Albany, Constellation, Sunnynook, Smales Farm, and Akoranga. Bus fares are reasonable and also offer discounts for children and senior citizens.
Auckland provides both express trains and limited stop trains with various stopping points throughout Auckland. Bus systems connect to the train system at the Britomart Transport Centre. Fares are also very reasonable, and various passes are available including Family Day Rover, Discovery, Day Passes and various monthly passes. Children and Seniors also received discount to ride the train.
A wonderful way to explore Auckland is by Ferry. Ferries depart from the Ferry Terminal at Downtown Auckland on Quay Street. Various connections between buses and ferries will connect you to the various locations around Auckland, which is surrounded on all sides by water. The various available Ferries include Inner Harbour, Hauraki Gulf, Outer Island, Fullers, Pine Harbour, Gulf Harbour, and West Harbour.
